A New Beginning.

Okay, so my English Composition was pretty good (ego, ego). So I guess I'll put it here.

Note: I got 22/30 for it.
Another note: There's emo, comedy and romance in this composition.

A New Beginning

It was his first day out of prison. Zach woke up, feeling refreshed. He took a shower, then as he put on his formal clothes, he looked out the windo and to the sky. Ominous grey clouds were coming in, enveloping the surrounding in darkness. He remembered what he had to do before looking for a job.

Zach put on his coat and walked to the nearby graveyard. He felt that the weather that morning made the mood perfect for visiting his father's grave, something he had not done for years. Just as he reached the gravestone that had the name "Jack Herney" carved on the surface, the dark clouds cleared and the sun shone brightly, lightening the mood.

"So much for mood," Zach thought. He placed the flowers he had brought from home onto the gravestone and prayed for a while. Then he picked up his briefcase and walked out of the graveyard, his eyes moistened with tears.

"Forget about the past, Zach. Move on. What you did cannot be undone," Zach told himself, trying to forget the crime he had done. He new it was time to start a new life, and that wad what he was going to do.

Zach went to a Seven-Eleven outlet, the one he used to go to all the time before he was jailed. He grabbed a packet of cigarettes and that day's newspaper. He looked through the "Classifieds" section as he walked to the counter.

The woman at the counter, who was slim, pretty and tall, said without looking up, "That would be ten dollars and ninety-five cents, sir."

Zach reached to his back pocket for his wallet, only to find that it was not there. He muttered a curse under his breath. "I'm sorry. It seems that I've forgotten my wallet. I'll put these back," he said, noticing the sudden formality in his tone.

Upon hearing Zach's deep, gruff voice, the woman looked up. She stuttered, "Zackie? Is that you?" Zach looked up and felt his jaw slack, knowing that only one person called him by that pet name. "Zackie! I can't believe it's you!" Anne, the woman at the counter, exclaimed with a tone of astonishment.

"When did she ever work here?!" Zach thought to himself, quickly walking out of the store, clearly shocked after seeing his sister, who had bullied him for as long as he could remember, on the first day of his "new life", as he liked to call it. He walked briskly, telling himself not to look back, as though his sister was some sort of predator stalking its prey.

Anne, being as determined as she always was, told her colleague to look after the counter while she chased her younger brother, eager to tease him or congratulate him for getting out of prison.

Zach looked down as he walked away, trying to avoid eye contact with anyone.

"Zackie! Wait! I need to tell you something!" Anne shouted, closing the physical gap in between them.

Zach stopped only for an instant, but that was enough for his athletic sister to catch up to him.

"Hey! Why did you run away like that?" Anne asked, pouting. Apparently she was trying to act innocent, or just be her playful self. Zach figured it was the latter. "How could you?" she said playfully, slapping him on the back. Hard.

After a few minutes, which seemed like an eternity for Zach, Anne decided to bring Zach back to the Seven-Eleven store. Zach knew that once Anne had decided on something, nothing could stop her and still remain alive, or not land in the hospital.

Reluctantly, Zach followed her back. "Now, how am I ever going to get a job? Once Anne knows I'm out of jail, she'll be disturbing me and embarrassing me every waking hour," Zach thought.

"Zackie, if you're looking for a job, there's a vacancy at the Seven-Eleven there," Anne said as though she read his mind, pointing to her workplace. As they reached the entrance to the store, clearly blocking many people's path, which Anne could not care less about, she added, "and, there's someone I want you to meet. She likes you a lot and hid in the store room when you entered. She's a darling, really."

They entered the Seven-Eleven and Zach saw the prettiest face ever. She was sitting at the counter whilechewing some bubble gum. Her skin was fair and flawless, with curly blonde hair tied back to a ponytail. She looked up, her emerald eyes meeteing Zach's, and she blushed. "God, she's an angel," Zach thought. Anne noticed the two were obviously falling for each other and gave Zach a nudge. A really strong nudge, and that stopped Zach's train of thoughts.

Zach knew that instant who he was going to spend the rest of his new life with, and this was just the beginning.

"Hi, my name is Zach. What's yours?" Zach said as he held out his hand.
